  1. Introduction (5-10 Sentences)
  • 1-2 Sentences that introduce the topic
  • 1-2 Sentences that introduce the writer’s first point
  • 1-2 Sentences that introduce the writer’s second point
  • 1-2 Sentences that introduce the writer’s third point
  • Thesis statement
  1. First body paragraph: 5-10 sentences that expound the writer’s first point
  • Top sentence introducing the first point (You can use the similar but not the same wording in the intro paragraph)
  • 1-2 sentences that provide background/details on the point
  • 1-2 sentences that establish credibility (e.g. quotes from credible source)
  • 1-2 sentences to analyze the point and relating it to the thesis
  • 1 sentence transition to new point/idea
